The LEC 2026 Spring Season continues to prove that in professional League of Legends, no lead is ever truly safe. In a breathtaking Game 2 of the Best-of-3 series between GIANTX and Team Heretics, the underdogs managed to pull off a stunning upset. Despite a difficult series trajectory, Team Heretics showcased incredible late-game resilience, pushing the game to a grueling 37-minute mark to secure a victory that momentarily silenced the GIANTX faithful.

The Early Game: A Tale of Two Laning Phases

The match began with a stark contrast in lane dominance. GIANTX entered the game looking to establish early control through their mid and jungle lanes. The GIANTX mid laner, playing Annie, managed to secure a significant early lead with a GoldDiff@15 of +820. This early pressure was complemented by the GIANTX jungler on Jarvan IV, who maintained a slight gold advantage of +42 at the 15-minute mark.

However, the real story of the early game was the explosive performance in the bot lane for Team Heretics. The Heretics ADC, playing Yunara, absolutely dominated the lane, ending the 15-minute mark with a massive +986 gold advantage. This early lead provided Team Heretics with the necessary resources to weather the initial GIANTX aggression and set the stage for a high-scaling late-game composition.

Mid-Game: Objective Battles and High-Stakes Skirmishes

As the game transitioned into the mid-game, the intensity escalated. Team Heretics began to leverage their bot lane advantage to contest neutral objectives. While GIANTX managed to secure two dragons and one Baron, Team Heretics was even more efficient, securing four dragons and two Barons. This superior objective control allowed Team Heretics to slowly choke out GIANTX's map presence.

The mid-lane battle was equally intense. The Team Heretics mid laner, playing Ahri, provided incredible utility and playmaking, finishing the game with a 4.33 KDA (4/3/9) and a 72% Kill Participation. This presence allowed the Heretics team to navigate through GIANTX's heavy crowd control. Meanwhile, the GIANTX support on Seraphine struggled to find impactful engages, ending with a 2.33 KDA and a significant gold deficit of -191 at 15 minutes.

The Decisive Moment: The Bot Lane Carry

The turning point of the match arrived during a high-stakes fight around the Baron pit. As GIANTX attempted to use their Baron buff to break the siege, Team Heretics executed a perfect counter-engage. The primary catalyst for this victory was the incredible performance of the Team Heretics bot laner, Yunara. Playing a high-damage composition, Yunara finished the game with a staggering 11/4/3 KDA and a 78% Kill Participation.

The sheer damage output from Yunara, combined with the unparalleled protection from the Team Heretics support on Lulu—who finished with a legendary 16.00 KDA (0/1/16) and an 89% Kill Participation—made it impossible for GIANTX to close out the game. The Lulu player's ability to peel and provide shields ensured that the Yunara carry remained untouched during the most critical skirmishes.

Closing the Game: The Final Siege

With the momentum firmly on their side, Team Heretics began their final march. They utilized their 9 towers to dismantle GIANTX's defenses, compared to only 8 towers for GIANTX. The gold lead of 77.3k for Team Heretics against 72.8k for GIANTX provided the necessary cushion to play aggressively.

As the 37-minute mark approached, the weight of the gold and objective advantage became too much for GIANTX to bear. Team Heretics pushed down the mid lane, and with the protection of their massive frontline and the overwhelming damage of their bot lane, the GIANTX Nexus finally fell. It was a victory defined by incredible scaling, legendary support play, and the sheer mechanical brilliance of a carry who refused to be contained.
