JD Gaming vs Team WE Game 2: Draft Analysis and Prediction
An in-depth LPL Game 2 draft analysis of JD Gaming versus Team WE, covering compositions, key picks, draft edge, and prediction.
Compositions
JD Gaming’s blue-side draft is built around mid-jungle initiation and long-range follow-up. JunJia’s Jarvan IV gives the composition a direct engage tool, while HongQ’s Syndra can punish targets trapped inside Cataclysm with burst damage and Scatter the Weak. Vampire’s Nautilus adds another reliable engage angle, making it difficult for Team WE to position safely around objectives.
GALA’s Ezreal is the low-risk damage source in this setup. He can poke before fights, Arcane Shift away from Xin Zhao or Dr. Mundo, and contribute from outside the most dangerous part of the fight. Xiaoxu’s Olaf provides the opposite profile: he wants to run directly through Team WE’s crowd control and create chaos around the back line. JDG’s ideal sequence is simple: find a Nautilus hook or Jarvan IV engage, force Team WE to split, then let Syndra and Ezreal finish isolated targets.
Team WE’s red-side composition has a more traditional front-to-back scaling structure. Cube’s Dr. Mundo becomes increasingly difficult to remove if he reaches his item thresholds, while Monki’s Xin Zhao can protect carries with Crescent Guard or start fights when JDG overextends. Karis’s Viktor and About’s Lucian supply consistent damage, and Erha’s Milio is crucial for keeping those carries alive through Jarvan IV and Nautilus pressure.
The key question is whether WE can maintain formation. Milio wants Viktor and Lucian close enough to receive shields, movement speed, and Cleanse effects, but Jarvan IV and Nautilus are excellent at breaking that formation apart.
Key Picks
Jarvan IV is the most important pick in the draft. Team WE have limited ways to escape Cataclysm once Milio’s defensive tools are unavailable. Lucian can dash, but he cannot freely reposition if Jarvan IV catches him after the dash or if Nautilus chains crowd control immediately afterward. Viktor is even more vulnerable because he lacks a natural escape.
Olaf is also a valuable answer into WE’s defensive composition. Ragnarok ignores much of the crowd control that Xin Zhao, Milio, and Viktor use to slow an engage. If Xiaoxu finds a flank, Dr. Mundo may not have enough damage to stop him, and WE’s carries could be forced to burn summoners before the main fight begins.
For WE, Milio is the draft’s pressure valve. His ultimate can undo a Nautilus pick, while his shields help Lucian survive Ezreal poke and Syndra burst. However, Milio cannot protect everyone if JDG attack from multiple angles.
Draft Edge
JDG hold the clearer early-game agency. Jarvan IV can gank aggressively, Nautilus creates strong pick pressure, and Syndra has the burst required to convert a single catch into an objective. Their champions also threaten WE before Dr. Mundo’s durability and Viktor’s scaling fully arrive.
WE have better extended-fight insurance if they reach a stable front-to-back setup. Viktor’s zone control and Milio’s protection can make dragon fights extremely difficult, especially when Dr. Mundo occupies Olaf and Xin Zhao denies access to Lucian.
Still, JDG’s engage tools are more proactive than WE’s answers. Blue side should be able to dictate the first major fight rather than waiting for Team WE to misposition.
Prediction
JD Gaming have the stronger draft for a volatile Game 2. Their composition has multiple engage routes, safer poke through Ezreal, and enough burst to punish WE’s immobile carries. Team WE can win if Cube becomes unkillable and Erha consistently disengages the first engage, but that requires near-perfect spacing.
Prediction: JD Gaming win through mid-game objective control and repeated picks onto Viktor or Lucian.
