MVK Esports vs GAM Esports Game 2 Draft Analysis: Can MVK Break GAM’s Engage Core?
An in-depth LCP Game 2 draft analysis of MVK Esports versus GAM Esports, covering compositions, key picks, draft edge, and prediction.
Compositions
MVK Esports drafted a volatile, skirmish-first composition built to force fights before GAM Esports’ long-range damage can take over. Olaf, Xin Zhao, Sylas, Corki, and Bard give MVK several ways to start chaotic engagements, isolate targets, and turn a small opening into a snowball. Their biggest strength is the ability to fight through GAM’s crowd control: Olaf can ignore key disables with Ragnarok, Xin Zhao can create a protected zone with Crescent Guard, and Sylas thrives when the enemy composition offers valuable ultimates to steal.
The composition does require clean execution. Corki is MVK’s most reliable late-game damage source, but he needs room to poke and scale rather than being forced into an early front-to-back fight. Bard is the key connector. SiuLoong’s roams can create unexpected numbers advantages for Gury and Chika, while Tempered Fate can either set up an engage or deny GAM’s first wave of pressure.
GAM Esports opted for a more conventional pick-and-engage setup. Jayce, Nocturne, Ahri, Kaisa, and Nautilus can punish a mispositioned opponent from multiple angles. Jayce and Ahri supply poke and catch potential before fights, while Nocturne’s Paranoia can remove vision and give Nautilus or Kaisa a direct route into the backline. This is a draft that wants MVK to hesitate around objectives, then punish their lack of information.
Key Picks
Sylas is the most interesting pick on the Rift. Chika has excellent theft options in Paranoia, Charm-based setup through Ahri’s Spirit Rush is less direct, but Nautilus’ Depth Charge offers extremely reliable engage. A stolen Paranoia can be especially devastating because GAM’s composition has limited tools to protect Artemis once the map goes dark.
Bard is equally important for MVK’s macro. GAM’s engage is powerful when it arrives together, but Bard can split the map open with Magical Journey and create flanks that Jayce cannot easily check. If SiuLoong finds repeated roams onto Gloryy or Draktharr, MVK can deny GAM the tempo required for their pick composition.
For GAM, Nocturne is the draft’s pressure point. Draktharr must make Paranoia matter before Corki reaches comfortable scaling. If Nocturne cannot create early side-lane picks or objective flanks, GAM may struggle to enter fights through Olaf and Xin Zhao.
Draft Edge
GAM own the clearer first-engage pattern, especially around dragon setups. Nautilus ult into Paranoia gives Artemis a clean window to carry fights with Kaisa. Jayce also makes neutral objectives dangerous because MVK cannot casually absorb repeated poke.
However, MVK have the stronger answer to a forced engage. Olaf and Xin Zhao are difficult for GAM to burst immediately, and Sylas can turn GAM’s best engage tools back against them. MVK’s draft has the higher execution ceiling, while GAM’s is easier to pilot.
Prediction
The game should hinge on whether GAM can establish vision control and force MVK to walk into Nautilus and Nocturne. If GAM find that first decisive engage, their backline follow-up should overwhelm Corki.
Still, MVK’s tools against dive are compelling. MVK Esports have a narrow draft edge if Gury and SiuLoong can disrupt GAM’s vision and give Chika access to aggressive flanks. Expect a close game, but MVK’s skirmish resilience gives them the better route to outplay.
